Mentoplasty
What is it?
It is a surgery that seeks to project or increase the volume of the chin.
It is indicated in patients with small chins but a normal jaw (microgenia).
Se can be performed using a silicone prosthesis whose texture and hardness resembles bone. It can also be achieved with fat lipoinjection and the use of fillers such as calcium hydroxyapatite and hyaluronic acid.
Before the surgery
It is decided to perform a mentoplasty, by:
-
small chin
-
As a complement to facial profiling.
Face-to-face assessment must be carried out directly with the specialist, and the results to be obtained must be determined.
In the consultation, the size of the prosthesis to be used is chosen.
During surgery
This surgery can last 1 hour and is performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.
It can be performed inside the mouth (intraoral) or in the neck below the chin. Once the approach route has been chosen, a "pocket" is made for the placement of the implant. Once in place, the tissue is fixed and closed. It is a completely outpatient surgery.
After surgery
It does not generate disability, but some recommendations and restrictions must be followed, which will be given in writing on the day of the appointment.
